For everyone who has bought my novel Unrelenting Nightmare, and those of you who have considered buying a copy, I would like to ask for your help. I have been in contact with Barnes & Noble in Long Beach, California, and the manager is considering having me do a book signing in late August. The question she asked, however, is if I can draw a group of people to the event. I told her that I cannot make any guarantees, but I do have friends and acquaintances that might be willing to come.
I also indicated that my publicist would promote the event through the local media, and that I have flyers to hand out, plus announcement signs and assistants to help draw customers to the signing table. However, she is still interested in my personal contacts and how many would be willing to attend. So here goes.
For those of you who happen to have a copy of my book, this is the chance to get it signed. Yippee! And for those who have considered getting a copy, what an unbelievable occasion to do so. In either case, I’ll be right there to see and touch, and ask why I decided to be an author, or when will my next book be coming out, or if I think the Dodgers will do well this year. What an opportunity! Or … well, maybe not. But you will have a signed copy of Unrelenting Nightmare and that must be worth something, don’t you think? I mean, hey, I could become famous, and then you can pull out your “signed” copy and flaunt it in front of your friends. How about that?
But seriously, this is indeed an opportunity for me. If I can land a Barnes & Noble book signing at this location, then the possibility exists for an exclusive book signing agreement with Barnes & Noble. If not, it will certainly afford me the chance to do signings at other bookstores. Anyway, I think you can understand how important this is, and I would appreciate any help I can get.
For your information, Unrelenting Nightmare received Editor’s Choice and Rising Star recognition from the publisher, plus two honorable mention awards so far in competition at book fairs in San Francisco and New York. I am entered in four more competitions this year and hope to win additional awards.
My request is fairly easy. If you would simply contact me by e-mail and voice your interest in attending the book signing at Barnes & Noble in Long Beach, California, then I will be able to show intended interest to the store manager. Obviously, I know you cannot promise your attendance, but all I’m asking is for a voiced interest. Here is my e-mail address for your convenience: scyocum@cox.net.
Thank you so much. I appreciate your help.
